| 内容記述 | 谷崎潤一郎（1886-1965）の『文章読本』（1934）は，谷崎の言語観・日本語観を知る上では不可欠 の資料である．そこには，『文章読本』という書名から予測される論文マニュアルに見るような文章作成上の細か なルールはなく，谷崎の言語観を基底に据えた文章論が展開されている．その言語観を分析すると，谷崎は言語 を単なる意志伝達の道具とはせずに思考の手段ととらえ，そこから国語の特性と国民性の不可分性を主張してい る．これは，言語構造はそれを話す人々の精神に影響を及ぼすというHumboldt的言語観に連なるものである． さらに，日本語の特質を踏まえたうえで日本語による思想を正確に伝えるためにはいかにすべきか側面が強調さ れている．このような点から，『文章読本』に見る谷崎の言語論・日本語論は，言語を研究の対象とする研究者の それではなく，まさに言葉を使って芸術を創作する文学者の芸術的言語論と見ることができる． | |||||

| 内容記述 | Jun'ichiro Tanizaki's (1886-1965) Bunsho-dokuhon (1934), or A Reader for Good Writing , is an essential material to interpret both his view of language in general and of the Japanese language in particular. Contrary to its title that reminds us of a writing manual for the general use, this book indicates no specific rules for writing or publication, but shows his stylistic theory based on his view of language. The distinctive feature of Tanizaki's view of language is that he regards language not simply as a tool of communication, but as a means of thought, and that he insists on inseparability of a language and a nation that speaks it. This attitude to language is identical with Wilhelm von Humboldt's perception of language which claims that the structure of language acts on ways of thinking of people who speak the language. In addition, Tanizaki, from the viewpoint of a Japanese man of letters, abolishes the Western "logocentric" ideas and emphasizes creative spheres of language to convey ideas with accuracy. Tanizakiﾕs view of language seen in his Bunsho-dokuhon , or A Reader for Good Writing , can be regarded, therefore, not as that of linguists who treat language as a mere object of their research, but as that of litterateurs, or artists, who create aesthetic works with the miraculous power of words. | |||||
