Questionnaires were sent by post to a total of 249 nurses who were working for 83 hospitals each of which has a surgical outpatient ward. The collection rate was 49.0%. Preoperative orientations were given at the outpatient department 1.1 ± 0.3 times on average for about 20 minutes at the time of admission or when a surgical operation was decided. ‘Required items the patients must prepare for hospitalization and surgery’ and ‘Information about where they can buy the goods’ ‘schedule before operation’ were explained, and the frequency of providing an explanation of ‘postoperative progress’ and ‘preoperative training’ was low. No efforts were made to promote preoperative preparation at home. Regarding the collaboration between wards and outpatient departments, efforts were made only from the outpatient department to the wards. Outpatient nurses deemed that it was necessary to improve the following three points: ‘creation and modification of reference materials’ ‘preparation for environment and human resources’ and ‘collaboration with professionals from outpatient departments, wards, and various occupations’.}, pages = {61--71}, title = {長野県の外科外来における術前オリエンテーションに関する実態調査}, volume = {14}, year = {2012} }
