These statements of nursing ethics provided nurses with ａ clear guideline for their ethical conduct and contributed to social recognition of nursing as an autonomous profession. Such statements, however, tend to exaggerate the importance of principles and raise ａ rigid fundamentalism based on the assumption that nurses act out of duty. This tendency is also found in the study of nursing ethics, where even the researches based on case studies tend to conclude with proposing the rules of action for an ideal nurse. These observations testify the limitation for the study of nursing ethics based on ａ code of ethics as ａ set of rules of action for nurses.
