The purpose of the study was to investigate the health status and lifestyle habits of the Brazilian toddlers. The data was obtained from the health examination records for 3-year old Brazilian children and 3-year old Japanese children. The physical data of the Brazilian toddlers were statistically compared to the Japanese toddlers and the related factors were analyzed. 　Results indicated that the Brazilian toddlers tended to be more obese than the Japanese. The suspected contributing factors were 1) the low level of physical activity 2) the high carbohydrate intake and 3) irregular feeding of snacks (time and amount). In spite of practicing undesirable lifestyle habits for the teeth, the Brazilian toddlers' average number of caries was 0.67 teeth less than the Japanese. The Brazilian children's frequent tooth brushing and a large amount of milk intake were considered to be the preventive habits against caries. The findings may be influenced by the differences in childrearing environments and parental attitudes of the two groups. 　In summary, the Brazilian toddlers possess some desirable lifestyle habits that can prevent caries. However, their lifestyle habits could also be risks for formulating obesity and caries.
