First, we overview major nursing text books regarding their evaluation of research papers and their description of how to read papers critically. Then, we raise a question in relation to the manner of \"research critique\" in order to object to the evaluation solely by checklists. Moreover, we clarify the meaning of \"critique\" in dictionaries, its usage in nursing education, and its definition in pedagogy and philosophy.
