We conducted semi-structured interviews with 10 Japanese-Brazilian men and studied their daily diet, lifestyle and perceptions of health. Japanese-Brazilian men tended to work at night shift or mixed shift, so that they had more chance to eat out or eating packed lunch from convenience stores. The Brazilian cultural influence was strongly observed in their diet, such as over consumption of meat & fat and insufficient intake of vegetable & fish. Feijao, a traditional Brazilian cooked bean soup, was recommended for daily diet, which possibly compensate their lack of vegetable ingestions. Out of 10 Japanese-Brazilian men, no one had an alcohol drinking custom, six were habitual smokers and other six were obese. They were, however, lacking in the perception of risk at contracting life-related illnesses and did not routinely practice exercises. The issues were they had limited access to the information of healthy diet and lifestyle. Their Dekasegi lifestyle might also hinder developing healthy life-habits.
